Quincy House, 20 Muirhead Street, Quincy, Mass.
Asian art and culture has long captured the western imagination. Beginning with the China Trade in the late eighteenth century and continuing through the nineteenth-century Victorian fascination, the Quincy family amassed an impressive collection of Asian and Asian-inspired artwork and luxury goods.
Join Senior Curator of Collections Nancy Carlisle and Objects Conservator Michaela Neiro for an in-depth look at these objects on view at Quincy House. Part tour, part lecture, Asian Art at Quincy House explores the recently reinstalled collection in context and reveals the challenges of working with materials and techniques like lacquer and japanning.
