Discover how the Lyman and Paine families used architectural details and finishes to create indelible summer-house memories. Early in the 1880s, siblings Arthur Lyman and Lydia Lyman Paine updated their summer houses to fit the taste of the period but each with their personal style and preferences. See how these Waltham families personalized the Lyman Estate, also known as "The Vale," and Stonehurst; what the two estates have in common; and how they differ in style and interior finishes. Stonehurst Curator Ann Clifford and Historic New England Preservation Services Manager Sally Zimmerman present this illustrated talk. Light refreshments on the terrace follow the presentation.
